Specialist Housing Services
We provide safe and affordable accommodation to young people 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. IYS has CAP (Crisis Accommodation Program) properties and community housing SHDL (Same House Different Landlord) properties. CAP properties are under the externally supported share housing style and SHDL properties can eventually become a tenant of QLD Housing Department and stay in the same property.

Specialist Housing workers will work together with you to:

  • Address the issues that contributed to you becoming homeless.
  • Help and support you to maintain your current accommodation.
  • Support you to address issues impacting on your life.
  • Develop your confidence and skills to live independently.

Reconnect assists young people 12-18 years who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless. Reconnect can:
  • Provide counselling and mediation.
  • Support you to stay in school even when it gets tough.
  • Support you to link into further education, training and/or employment.
  • Provide support and advocacy with Centrelink.
  • Provide practical support.

The Reconnect program aims to give young people the tools to settle their living arrangements, stay connected and build supportive relationships.
