Community-Based Youth Support

IYS’ Community-based Youth Support (CBYS) service provides support for young people in South-West Brisbane. The program accepts direct referrals from young people, other providers and the community and works alongside IYS’ other programs to ensure young people are receiving the right support to meet their needs.

The service is funded by the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women and facilitated by a highly experienced and qualified youth worker. The service provides immediate access to advice, information and referral to specialist service along with one-to-one case management for young people seeking support.

The youth support service focuses on enhancing young people’s connection with family, community and culture while employing therapeutic intervention techniques to equip young people with the tools needed to overcome the challenges they are facing.

The program has four key focuses: connect to positive family support, engage in education or training and/or employment, lead a healthy and violence-free life and have a safe, stable place to live. CBYS provides one-to-one case management to ensure the highest outcomes for young people who are experiencing high levels of vulnerability, disengaging from education and other activities or just need some additional assistance.
