Our story
Inala Youth Service (IYS) has had a dynamic history since it first emerged in 1986 as an auspiced organisation under the Youth Advocacy Centre Inc. Originally providing temporary three month housing options for young people and families in the Inala, Durack and Richlands area. In 1988 it was incorporated as Inala Youth Care Community Inc. and received its first round of government funding in 1990. In 1995 the organisation changed its operational name to Inala Youth and Family Support Service (IYFSS) to reflect the importance of maintaining connection to family.
Our longevity in South-West Brisbane has enabled us to create a genine connection with the local community. We are on the ground and understand the isues facing local children, young people and families and how we can help them create opportunities to enhance their lives.
