A safe space to grow for young people since 2014

HUT INFORMATION

The HUT

Located in DJ Sherrington Park in Inala, The Hut is IYS’ early intervention outreach program that provides a safe and supportive youth-friendly space for young people aged 12-25 years bringing them in off the streets to use the facilities, engage in supported and organised activities facilitated by a specialist youth worker, allows us to informally collaborate with young people through community development and is a soft entry point into a range of specialised youth programs available at Inspire Youth and Family Services.

The HUT is a successful form of early intervention in the local community as it educates local children and young people about socially acceptable behaviours and creates opportunities for them to make more positive life choices.

Through the HUT, young people are able to find their place in the world.

WHY THE HUT?

The HUT provides a safe space for them to explore who they are. We are really committed to early intervention activities, like group programs, educational workshops, excursions, and creative engagement, skills building and educational seminars.

Every young person has an unexplored talent or interest. Recognising and valuing something like writing, singing, art, or sport, enables the young person to dare to dream.

It’s really important that our team has the resources and time to be able to explore these interests with the young person and connect them to others who share the interest. The value of great mentors and role models for young people can’t be overstated.

Young people often have an unexplored talent or interest. We seek to draw that out.
